Time’s moving quickly as we move into the fall 2023 season. I only got a few series this time around, compared to last season, where I swear I was drowning in anime. I guess there’s worse things in life.
As always, not including series that are still airing from last season. Okay, let’s jump right into it.
Sequels
Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, Season 3

A third season of Rising of the Shield Hero? Sounds good. I still haven’t read this arc, but I’ve heard good things, so I’m excited.
Goblin Slayer, Season 2 (I know, surprising)
Might be surprising, considering my aversion to dark stories, but I’ve been reading the manga and it’s still pretty interesting, so here it is.
Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!, Season 2

The Eminence in Shadow was so fun and silly, but also epic. I looked forward to the new episode every week, so I expect the same for season 2.
Spy x Family, Season 2 (less surprising)
I loved season 1. It was so damn entertaining, and I can wholeheartedly say I’m looking forward to this.
Saihate no Paladin: Tetsusabi no Yama no Ou

Season 2 of The Faraway Paladin should be interesting. I feel like season 1 flew under the radar for most people, but it was a super interesting isekai anime. I really want to see where the story goes now.
New Series
Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo

I had heard of this and decided to pick up the manga. After the first volume, I immediately bought a bunch more. I am in favor of true harems, and this one does it very well while being extremely funny. I can’t wait.
Ojou to Banken-kun
I feel like people are going to be put off a bit by this romance anime. I will say, it did feel a bit weird early on, but I like how it’s been playing out thus far in the manga, so I’ll be watching this one.
Konyaku Haki sareta Reijou wo Hirotta Ore ga, Ikenai Koto wo Oshiekomu

I swear, the male lead looks like Blade from Eiyuu Kyoushitsu… But whatever, the rest of the story looks interesting. I’m a big fan of fantasy romance, and I think I can get behind the two leads’ personalities, so should be fun. I hope to see the standoffish male warm up to the female lead by the end. Oh, and the voice acting cast is pretty impressive, so that’s a plus.
Tearmoon Teikoku Monogatari

We have a redo anime, with a girl reliving her life after her execution. Seems interesting, and people seem to have positive opinions of the written works so I expect good things.
Kikansha no Mahou wa Tokubetsu desu

A Returner’s Magic Should Be Special is a manhwa that caught my interest a while back. It’s another “redo reincarnation” story I found interesting and had likeable characters. Should be a fun watch.
Seiken Gakuin no Makentsukai

While I like fantasy harem anime, it’s always tough when the male lead is young. Nothing worse (for me personally) than seeing him treated like a child by them. Ceases to be a harem and instead he’s just surrounded by onee-sans. But, to each their own. The mix of fantasy with technology isn’t super common, and looks like it’s not afraid to be brutal. I’ll see how it goes.
Shangri-La Frontier: Kusoge Hunter, Kamige ni Idoman to su

Not really a lot to say here. Virtual reality video game anime with a serious gamer. We only get bits of the side characters, so hard to make any real judgments based on the trailers alone, so for now I’ll just watch it.
Boushoku no Berserk

Looks like we are getting an OP protagonist with a bit of a quirk. Not sure exactly what’ll happen, but it just reminds me of a D&D game I played (yep, I’m a nerd if it wasn’t apparent by now). Had a really powerful weapon but I needed to kill something daily to keep it satiated or it’d turn on me. No idea if this is similar situation, but it might be interesting.
Bokura no Ameiro Protocol

We all know of sports anime, but this might be the first real esports anime I’m checking out. And I don’t mean one with a protagonist that’s a pro gamer, but one where the esport plays a central role. Looks like it’s an anime original, so very hard to gauge with just the trailer and synopsis, but it seems intriguing enough to warrant a watch.
Honorable Mentions
Mahoutsukai no Yome Season 2 Part 2 – This is a series that I expect to be good, but I admittedly haven’t watched the first season…
Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou desu Season 2 – As I write this up, I’m binge watching the first season. I’ve been enjoying it after a few episodes, and isekai shoujo has been impressing me lately. Only reason it’s down here is because I haven’t finished season 1.
Kanojo mo Kanojo Season 2 – Same as the previous two, I haven’t watched the first season… Please forgive me.
Keikenzumi na Kimi to, Keiken Zero na Ore ga, Otsukiai suru Hanashi – I’ve heard good things and I’m sure there’ll be cute moments, but I’m just really turned off by extremely experienced girls. Just a personal opinion. I’m sure if it’s good, I’ll see enough of it on social media to maybe check it out.
Toaru Ossan no VRMMO Katsudouki – Doesn’t seem particularly compelling, and I’m going to guess this’ll be the one on this list that falls kind of flat for me. As such, I’m preempting this one and putting it down here.
Sousou no Frieren – From what I know about this series, I expect some pretty heavy themes in this one, so I’m on the fence.
And that’s it. Not a lot. Well, by comparison to past seasons… I feel like there were quite a few shoujo this time around, which is just what I wanted. We need more shoujo.
Okay, catch you next time.
